On Friday, the Supreme Court upheld Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris’ and Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s elections.
News24 Nigeria reports that the two governors were elected on the All Progressives Congress agenda.
In the Kebbi controversy, the Supreme Court denied Aminu Bande of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s application to contest Governor Nasir Idris’ election victory in Kebbi State.
On Friday, the panel of justices unanimously ruled that the appeal lacked merit, and no costs were imposed.
The Supreme Court also dismissed the appeal of Jibrin Barde, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in Gombe State, who challenged Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s election.
In a unanimous decision by a panel of justices, the Supreme Court held that the appeal lacked substance and was superfluous.
