Alleged N4bn fraud: Soludo visits ex-Anambra gov, Obiano in Abuja hotel

Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has paid a visit to his predecessor, Willie Obiano, in Abuja, as the latter is on trial for alleged money laundering by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

On Wednesday, the EFCC arraigned Obiano before Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja on nine counts of “stealing and corruption.”

The anti-graft agency charged the former governor of allegedly embezzling N4,008,573,350 from the security vote.

Although Justice Ekwo granted him bail, he ordered that Obiano be limited to court jurisdiction.

The trial judge further directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to submit the defendant’s travel documentation to the court registrar.

Ekwo then directed the registrar to notify the Nigerian Immigration Service about the event.

Soludo, on the other hand, stated in a brief message on his verified Facebook page that he had paid Obiano a visit on Thursday at his Abuja hotel.

According to the governor, he had a very good meeting with Obiano. He was accompanied by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Sly Ezeokenwa.

“Today, and in the company of the APGA National Chairman, Ezeokenwa Sly Jr, I paid a solidarity visit to my respected predecessor, Chief Willie Obiano, in Abuja.

“The two-hour chat was valuable time well spent. By His grace, this one too shall pass,” he said.
