The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) issued a 14-day strike warning on Thursday, and the Federal Government (FG) has replied.
Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Minister of State for Labour and Employment, told a press conference in Abuja on Friday that the President Bola Tinubu-led administration has demonstrated good faith in implementing the agreement it reached with workers to cushion the impact of fuel subsidy removal.
She asked to organized labour to abandon the planned nationwide strike and embrace debate on conflicting concerns.
“We have shown good faith, government is committed to expedite full implementation of MoU.
“This government acknowledges the challenges faced by Nigerians and has demonstrated sincerity in its ongoing negotiations with the trade unions.”
