Bye-election: PDP candidate wins Taraba federal constituency seat

Following a supplementary election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recognized Sadiq Tafida, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) candidate, as the winner of the Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal constituency seat.

He received 19,681 votes in the byelection and following additional election to win the House of Representatives seat.

INEC’s returning officer, Prof. Olarenwaju Oladipo of Federal University Wukari, made the pronouncement on Thursday.

According to him, “The candidate of the PDP, Sadiq Tafida, polled 19,681 votes; Innocent Jabayang of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, had 16,379; Aminu Malle of the All Progressive Congress, APC, polled 12,662, while the candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, Aminu Liman, scored 3,646.”

Addressing journalists after his victory, Tafida thanked the electorate for giving him their mandate to represent them at the green chambers.

He also promised to deliver the required dividends of democracy to his constituents.
