Amazing facts you need to know about Aloysius Uche Ordu, Member- Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Nigeria

Aloysius Uche Ordu is a senior fellow and director of the Africa Growth Initiative in Brookings’ Global Economy and Development program.

 

He is a member of the CBN’s Monetary Policy Committee.

Ordu is an economist from Nigeria’s Igbo ethnicity.

Ordu attended University College Cardiff in Wales, UK, where he earned degrees in Economics and Law, followed by a Master’s degree in Quantitative Economics.

Ordu also earned a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Sussex. In July 2000, he got a Certificate in Corporate Finance Leadership from the prestigious Harvard Business School.

Ordu started his career as an Economist at The Economist Intelligence Unit (The EIU) in 1983 and worked there till he joined Midland Bank Ltd as an International Economist.

Ordu later worked as a Manager at the World Bank from 1988 to 2007, and then as a Vice President at the African Development Bank Group between 2007 and 2011.

Ordu worked as a Director at the World Bank from 2011 to 2014 before becoming Managing Partner of Omapu Associates LLC in 2015, where he remained until 2020.

Ordu was then appointed senior fellow and director of the Africa Growth Initiative in Brookings’ Global Economy and Development program.

Ordu is a member of the Partnership for Transparency Fund’s board of directors and has previously worked as a senior consultant for the World Meteorological Organization, the United Nations Environment Program, the African Development Bank, and the World Bank.

In February 2024, Ordu was appointed to the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Monetary Policy Committee.
