NIRSAL reportedly sacks over 500 staff

The Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL), a Federal Government agency that operates as a subsidiary of the Central Bank of Nigeria, is said to have laid off over 500 employees.

Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani, who revealed this in a post on his verified X Twitter on Thursday, said the affected individuals had worked for the organization as contract employees for several years.

He stated that if the story is found to be genuine, the dismissal will have a significant impact on the impacted employees.

“Learned that NIRSAL has dismissed over 500 staff who have worked for over 7 years as contract staff. If this is true, then it’s going to be tough for the affected staff,” he said.

Attempt by PlatinumPost reporter to confirm the reported sack from NIRSAL has not yielded the desired result at the time of filing this story.

Recall that NIRSAL is a non-bank agriculture-focused institution that promotes commercial lending to key players in the Agricultural sector of the Nigerian economy, by de-risking such lending.
