Atiku’s ex-aide slams Peter Obi for ‘shunning’ Tinubu’s birthday

Daniel Bwala, a former spokesman for the defunct Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign Council, has lashed out at Peter Obi’s choice not to wish President Bola Tinubu a happy birthday.

News24 Nigeria reports that Tinubu turned 72 on Friday, prompting torrents of congratulatory messages from some prominent Nigerians.

But it was observed that Obi, who was a major contender in the 2023 presidential election that saw Tinubu emerge as the winner, did not send in any message.

Responding to the development in a post on his verified X handle on Sunday, the Borno State-born Bwala expressed disappointment over Obi’s seeming refusal to pen a congratulatory message to the president.

He said : “It is so disappointing that a man like @PeterObi who claims to be a statesman and cares about Nigeria and its democratic ideals but couldn’t wish @officialABAT who is the president of the republic a happy birthday. How can such a person be trusted to be a president by example and unite Nigeria?

Opportunism is not pateiotism.”
