Coroner vindicates Dowen College, students for Sylvester Oromoni’s death

Mikhail Kadiri, the coroner overseeing the Sylvester Oromoni case, has cleared Dowen College and its students of any participation in the late student’s tragic death.

Following a two-year investigation and a six-hour hearing at a magistrate court in Lagos’ Ogba area, Kadiri blamed Oromoni’s death on sepsis caused by lungs and kidney infections from an ankle injury.

Dowen College and its students were not held personally responsible, despite the fact that parental and medical negligence were identified as contributing causes.

Oromoni was laid to rest on Saturday in his family’s property in Ogbe-Ijoh, Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta, after two years of struggle for justice.

He was born on December 4, 2009 and passed away on November 30, 2021.

The burial was attended by various luminaries, including human rights lawyer Chief Femi Falana, SAN.
