FCCPC shuts major supermarket in Abuja, states reason

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has sealed one of Abuja’s biggest supermarkets.

The Commission shut 4U Supermarket on Thursday for alleged unfair conduct by its management.

FCCPC personnel took the move while conducting an enforcement exercise in portions of the nation’s capital, visiting various supermarkets in Abuja to launch a campaign to enforce pricing display and quantity compliance.

The Commission’s crackdown on stores is considered to be a direct response to Nigerians’ concerns over growing commodity prices, which contradict the naira’s recent rise versus international currencies.
