Niger gov slashes tuition fees by 50%

In a significant move to ease financial burdens, the Governor Mohammed Bago-led administration in Niger State has announced a substantial reduction in tuition fees at Abdulkadir Kure University of Education, cutting costs by half.

This announcement was made by Prof. Muhammed Yahaya-Kuta, the university’s Pro-chancellor, and is designed to alleviate the financial strain on students and parents, especially in light of the recent removal of fuel subsidies by the Federal Government.

Governor Bago emphasized the administration’s commitment to addressing the economic challenges faced by students and their families. “All students enrolled in regular courses will benefit from a 50% reduction in registration fees for the ongoing 2023/2024 academic session,” stated Bago.

Governor Bago congratulated students, parents, and residents of the state, encouraging the beneficiaries to repay this gesture by committing more diligently to their studies. He highlighted the importance of education in the state’s development and urged students to contribute positively to society.

The governor expressed optimism that with continued public support, his administration would implement further measures to alleviate financial burdens and promote greater accessibility to education for all.
