Born on May 16, 1960, into the extended royal family of Oba Momodu II in the Etsako-West division of Edo State, Nigeria, Dele Momodu’s roots are deeply tied to tradition and culture. He further obtained a Master’s degree in English Literature in 1988.

3. Early Career

From 1983 to 1985, Momodu served as the personal secretary to Chief Akin Omoboriowo, the former Deputy Governor of Ondo State. In 1986, he took on the role of ambassador to the King of Ife, Okunade Sijuwade Olubuse II, managing the Royal Motel Ltd. owned by the monarch. After resigning from this position, he pursued further studies in English Literature.

Dele Momodu began his journalism career in May 1988 as a staff writer for African Concord magazine, owned by Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola. He contributed to various other publications, including National Concord, Sunday Concord, Business Concord, and the Yoruba newspaper Isokan.
