Ogun: Gunmen abduct pregnant woman while going to hospital for delivery
A pregnant woman, identified as Mrs. Ogunbunmi, has been abducted in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.
The woman, who was on her way to the state general hospital in Ijaiye for delivery, was kidnapped during her journey from her home in Oke Lantoro.
Her husband, Ogunbunmi Lateef, received the alarming news via a WhatsApp message that confirmed his wife’s abduction by unidentified armed men.
Police Spokesperson Omolola Odutola confirmed the incident in a brief statement on Thursday. “Ogunbunmi Lateef of Oke Lantoro reported that his pregnant wife, due for delivery, left home for State Hospital Ijaiye, Abeokuta. He received a WhatsApp message confirming the abduction of his wife by unknown armed men,” Odutola stated.
Ogun State is currently grappling with a high level of criminal activity, contributing to growing concerns about safety in the South West region.
