Full-tuition Hong Kong scholarships announced for Nigerian students

On Thursday, the Federal Ministry of Education unveiled a new scholarship program offering full tuition coverage for Nigerian students to study in Hong Kong.

According to the Ministry’s official X handle (formerly Twitter), the scholarships are available to applicants for the Bachelor of Education programme.

The Ministry urged all eligible Nigerian students to take advantage of this opportunity.

The announcement stated, “The Government of Hong Kong invites qualified and interested Nigerians to apply for full-tuition scholarships for a four-year Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Early Childhood Education (ECE) program for the 2024-2025 academic year.”

In addition to the scholarships, the Ministry provided information on the cost of living for students in Hong Kong, noting that expenses such as food, transportation, and leisure activities could range from HK$30,000 to HK$50,000 annually. Affordable hostel accommodation is estimated at around HK$6,000 (approximately USD 770) per month.

Furthermore, the college has waived application fees for students who apply through the Consular General of Nigeria in Hong Kong.

Eligibility criteria include holding an IB Diploma or GCE A-Level/iAL with a minimum Grade E in two subjects for the Bachelor of Education program, or one subject for the Higher Diploma in Early Childhood Education (HDECE). Additionally, applicants must have a Grade E in English Language at A/AS-Level or a Grade C in GCE-O-Level/GCSE/IGCSE.
