Nigerian athlete Tobi Amusan has been given the green light to participate in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has dismissed appeals from both World Athletics (WA) and the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) against the world record holder in the women’s 100-meter hurdles.
CAS upheld a previous decision by the World Athletics Disciplinary Tribunal (WADT) that found Amusan not guilty of violating anti-doping rules.
Amusan, 28, was suspended last year by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) for failing to appear for three drug tests within a 12-month period. The AIU had initially sought a two-year ban for the athlete.
However, the suspension was overturned, allowing Amusan to compete in the 2023 World Athletics Championships.
The CAS ruling concludes the legal proceedings that started with the WADT’s decision on August 17, 2023.
