EFCC arrests 27 suspected internet fraudsters in Benin City
In a significant crackdown on cybercrime, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Benin Zonal Directorate apprehended 27 individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud.
The arrests, which took place across various locations in Benin City, the Edo State capital, were made possible through actionable intelligence, according to a statement released by the EFCC on Friday.
Among the items seized from the suspects were N590,000 in cash, nine luxury cars, laptops, and mobile phones.
The EFCC confirmed that the suspects are currently under investigation and will face charges in court once the inquiries are completed.
