Bomb explosion rocks popular cattle market in Yobe
Nigerian troops successfully defused an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted at Buni Yadi Cattle Market in Yobe State on Friday.
The bomb, suspected to have been planted by Boko Haram insurgents, was intended to target vigilante members operating in the area, according to Capt. Mohammed Shehu, spokesperson for the Sector II Joint Task Force in the North-East Operation “Hadin Kai.”
Unfortunately, a second IED planted at the market exploded, injuring a young girl selling sachet water. The 12-year-old victim, who sustained a leg fracture, is currently receiving medical treatment.
DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, spokesperson for the state’s Police Command, confirmed the incident and emphasized the importance of reporting suspicious activities or objects to security agencies to prevent such occurrences.
Buni Yadi is located approximately 54 kilometers from Damaturu, the state capital.
