The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced that its ‘X’ account is currently unavailable due to an ongoing upgrade aimed at enhancing its global functionality.
Dele Oyewale, EFCC’s spokesperson, explained to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that the downtime is part of the update process.
“Our X account is temporarily down as we implement necessary improvements. System upgrades often result in temporary unavailability, but this will enable us to better serve the public,” Oyewale said.
He reassured the public that other social media channels of the commission remain active.
“The account has not been hacked; it’s simply undergoing an update. We anticipate it will be operational again soon.”
On Thursday, NAN’s review of the account revealed a message stating, “The term you entered did not bring up any results. Please try again later,” on the account page, which previously had over two million followers. Despite this, the EFCC’s website and other social media platforms, such as Facebook and Instagram, continue to function normally.
NAN notes that various issues can affect account accessibility, including poor internet connectivity, cache issues, attempted hacks, or potential policy violations.
