Alhaji Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, has made a significant donation of N1.5 billion to assist victims of the recent flood disaster in Maiduguri, Borno State.
This generous contribution aims to provide critical relief and support to those affected by the disaster.
During his visit to the flood-stricken areas, Dangote, accompanied by Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, detailed the allocation of the funds.
He announced that N1 billion would be directed to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to enhance relief efforts in collaboration with the Borno State government.
Additionally, Dangote committed N500 million from the Aliko Dangote Foundation, bringing the total donation to N1.5 billion.
In his statement, Dangote emphasized the coordinated approach, saying, “We have this flood committee. NEMA wrote us a letter; so we sat down and approved N1 billion to NEMA to work with the Borno State government. On top of that, the Aliko Dangote Foundation will put additional N500 million. That’s #1.5 billion. Thank you.”
Governor Sule also contributed to the relief effort by announcing the donation of an unspecified number of trucks filled with essential relief materials to support the Borno State government.
Governor Babagana Zulum expressed his deep gratitude for the generosity shown by Dangote and Sule. He remarked, “Not everyone with money has the heart of giving. Aliko Dangote has been a consistent supporter of our people. This is not the first time he has stepped in to help. I pray that Allah rewards him with Aljannah.”
Zulum also extended his thanks to Governor Abdullahi Sule for his support during this challenging time, stating, “I would like to thank my brother, Gov Abdullahi Sule, who came along with Aliko Dangote to visit us at this trying moment.”
