In a decisive follow-up to the elimination of bandit leader Kachallah Buzu, Nigerian military forces have successfully taken down another feared kingpin, Halilu Sububu, during ongoing operations in Zamfara State.
Sububu, known for his reign of terror across communities in the North West, was neutralized on Thursday as part of a military offensive aimed at dismantling bandit strongholds in the region.
A military intelligence source confirmed the development to PRNigeria, revealing that Sububu and several of his associates were killed in the operation.
“During an intense clearance operation, our troops successfully neutralized the notorious bandit leader, Halilu Sububu, along with other armed criminals. We also recovered dangerous weapons, ammunition, and motorcycles used by the terrorists,” the source disclosed.
Sububu was notorious for his involvement in multiple criminal activities, including the killing of a drone pilot and an operative of the Department of State Services (DSS) about two months ago. He was also responsible for the abduction and murder of several civilians in Zamfara State.
The military’s ongoing efforts to eliminate key bandit figures like Sububu are seen as crucial in curbing the menace of banditry in the North West region, providing relief to affected communities and strengthening national security.
