The Police Service Commission (PSC) has appointed new Commissioners of Police to lead the state commands of Abia, Lagos, Ebonyi, and Akwa Ibom.
This decision follows recent promotions within the police force, paving the way for fresh leadership across these states.
According to a press release on Friday, signed by Ikechukwu Ani, the PSC’s Head of Press and Public Relations, the new commissioners include Isah Danladi Nda for Abia, Olarewaju Ishola Olawale for Lagos, Anthonia Adaku Uche Anya for Ebonyi, and Miller Gajere Dantawaye for Akwa Ibom.
These appointments are part of a larger restructuring effort within the Nigerian police force aimed at enhancing operational efficiency.
Nda will replace Kenechukwu Onwuemelie in Abia, while Olawale takes over from Adegoke Fayoade in Lagos. In Ebonyi, Anya will succeed Augustina Ogbodo, and in Akwa Ibom, Dantawaye will take the reins from Waheed Ayilara.
Speaking on these changes, PSC Chairman DIG Hashimu Argungu expressed confidence in the newly appointed commissioners and urged them to deliver on their mandate to improve security within their respective states.
He emphasized that the Commission will closely monitor their performance, expecting immediate and effective leadership.
“Their mission is to build a competitive, competent, and efficient police force in their states,” Argungu remarked. He further assured that the PSC would provide ongoing support to the new commissioners as they settle into their roles, encouraging them to remain committed to serving the nation.
The Commission has already communicated these appointments to the Inspector General of Police, ensuring a swift implementation of the changes.
This latest round of appointments is expected to bring a new wave of leadership and strategy to tackle security challenges in the affected states, setting the stage for improved law enforcement across Nigeria.
