Troops eliminate Boko Haram insurgents, rescue 13 hostages in separate operations

In a bold operation early Saturday, Nigerian troops from Sector 1, Operation Hadin Kai, successfully eliminated three Boko Haram terrorists in Mafa Local Government Area, Borno State.

The operation, which took place around 5:30 a.m., was carried out after receiving precise intelligence reports, enabling the troops to launch a surprise attack on terrorist hideouts in Ngwom community.

The Joint Task Force (North East) Operation Desert Sanity III, working closely with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), engaged in a fierce gunfight by 7:58 a.m., resulting in the neutralization of three insurgents. Notably, the Nigerian forces suffered no casualties during the encounter.

Meanwhile, in a separate operation, troops of Sector 4, Operation Whirl Punch, rescued 13 hostages from a kidnappers’ den in Kachia Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

Acting on credible intelligence about the movement of abducted victims near Chigulu village, the troops swiftly launched a rescue mission.

They stormed the bandits’ camp, forcing the criminals to flee during a gunfight and leaving behind six men and seven women, who were safely rescued.

Several items were recovered from the camp, including weapons, ammunition, mobile phones, solar panels, and cash totaling ₦192,220. The rescued hostages were immediately taken to a military facility for medical evaluation and debriefing before reuniting with their families.

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, commended the troops for their swift and effective response. He also praised Major General MLD Saraso, the General Officer Commanding, 1 Division Nigerian Army, for the successful operation, expressing gratitude for the bravery and dedication of the security forces.
