On September 13, 2024, Nigerian troops from the 21 Armoured Brigade Pulka, in coordination with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), successfully thwarted a deadly ambush by Boko Haram in Borno State.

The encounter, which took place at approximately 6:55 pm along the Ngoshe-Ashigashiya road, led to the neutralization of one terrorist.

According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the terrorists were intercepted while attempting to cross towards the Mandara Mountains. They were reportedly carrying a bag of stolen corn, likely looted from local farmers during a prior raid.

The troops engaged the insurgents in a brief yet intense firefight, resulting in the death of one attacker. The remaining terrorists fled in disarray, with some likely injured from gunfire.

Efforts are currently underway to track and apprehend these fugitives, who continue to pose a threat to local communities.

This successful operation is part of the broader offensive against Boko Haram aimed at securing roads and protecting communities in the region.

The ongoing collaboration between the military and the CJTF remains crucial in achieving these significant victories against insurgent activities.
