The WhatsApp number of Nigeria’s Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman, has reportedly been compromised by a suspected hacker.
The Federal Ministry of Education confirmed the incident in a statement released on Friday, warning the public that the minister’s number is now being used by an unauthorized individual.
The ministry urged anyone receiving messages or communications from the compromised number to disregard them, as they are not from Professor Mamman. Additionally, authorities are taking steps to address the security breach and restore the minister’s access to his communication channels.
It reads : “The Office of the Honourable Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman OON, SAN is informing the general public that the Minister’s WhatsApp number has been hacked and is currently being used by unauthorized individual. We deeply regret any inconvenience this might cause and urge everyone to disregard any message of request received from the said number until further notice.
“The matter has been reported to the relevant authorities and is under investigation. We advise all members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity.”
