Former Enugu senator, Ayogu Eze, is dead

Senator Ayogu Eze, who represented the Enugu North Senatorial District in the National Assembly from 2007 to 2015, has died.

Eze, 66, died on Thursday in an Abuja hospital from an unexplained ailment.

During his eight years in the Senate, Eze served on the Constitution Drafting and Amendment Committee, which introduced some new amendments to Nigeria’s 1999 constitution.

Following his reelection to the Senate in 2011, he was appointed chairman of the Senate Committee on Works.

Eze also served on committees for police affairs, national planning, marine transportation, and federal character and inter-governmental affairs.

Born on November 23, 1958, Eze was elected Senator for the Enugu North Senatorial District in Enugu State, Nigeria, and took office on June 5, 2007.
