Real reason for fuel scarcity – NNPCL

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) says the issue that caused the present fuel supply shortage in various parts of the country has been rectified.

According to NNPC Ltd, the problem stemmed from logistics issues.

Olufemi Soneye, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd., made the announcement on Thursday in response to the country’s present gasoline scarcity.

Soneye emphasized that the prices of petroleum items did not change.

“The NNPC Ltd. wishes to clarify that the tightness in the supply of PMS currently being experienced in some areas across the country is as a result of logistics issues and that they have been resolved.

“The NNPC Ltd. urges Nigerians to avoid panic buying as there is a sufficiency of products in the country,” he assured.

Motorists in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), have expressed worry over the long queues being presently experienced at fuel stations due to scarcity of PMS.

In Kaduna, black marketers took advantage of the situation to sell fuel at N1,000 per litre.
